EXHIBITS

The exhibits at The Mardi Gras Museum are from the largest personal collection of Mardi Gras costumes in the City of New Orleans, owned by founder Carl Mack.

The collection includes costumes from Carnival ball royalty, Mardi Gras Indians, Cajun Mardi Gras, Carnival in Brazil, Gay Carnival Krewes, Social Aid and Pleasure Clubs, Walking Clubs and much more.

Our Mardi Gras tours will inform the visitor on the origins and traditions of Carnival and Mardi Gras and the many ways in which New Orleanians work all year long on preparing for this amazing festival.  Find out why Mardi Gras is such an important part of the culture and way of life in our city.

The all-female marching krewe, Dames de Perlage, has been chosen to display its hand-stitched beaded bustiers and headdresses at the Mardi Gras Museum of Costumes and Culture in the French Quarter.

The Mardi Gras Museum covers the history of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, displaying one of a kind costumes from the Carl Mack collection, and showing an evolution of design and thought while maintaining tradition.
